Repair where permitted

Mobile puncture assessment—with repair only when safe

A screw or nail does not always mean a new tyre, but a safe repair cannot be judged from the outside alone. The tyre must come off the wheel first.

Inspection comes before repair

The outside can hide abrasion, heat damage or weakened cords caused by driving underinflated. Removing the tyre allows the inner liner, puncture path and general condition to be examined.

Repairs are limited to suitable damage in the recognised central tread area and depend on puncture size, tread depth, previous repairs and internal condition.

Repair may be refused when

  • Damage is in the shoulder or sidewall
  • The tyre was driven flat and damaged internally
  • Cords, bead or inner liner are compromised
  • Tread or general condition is unsafe
  • The puncture is too large or conflicts with an old repair

Safety decides

If the tyre is unsuitable, we explain why and discuss replacement rather than applying an unsafe temporary fix. Sealant or an external string is not the same as a standards-based permanent repair.

ImportantA photo can show the puncture position, but it cannot certify that the tyre is safe to repair.

Questions drivers ask us

Clear information before you call. For live availability or a quote, speak to us directly.

Can you decide from a photograph?

No. A photograph helps triage, but internal inspection is required.

Can a sidewall puncture be repaired?

Ordinary sidewall or shoulder damage is not suitable for a routine permanent puncture repair.

What if repair is impossible?

We explain the finding and, where available, quote for a suitable replacement.
